No time to waste for burgeoning WA mining services firm

Given mine sites are 24-7 operations, any downtime whatsoever is extremely costly often resulting in millions of dollars in lost revenue.

No one is more aware of this than Joe Staltaro – managing director of HDD Solutions.

Having worked for 2 decades as a mechanical technician for the likes of Rio Tino, Sandvik Mining and MacMahon, Joe has spent considerable time at the coalface of mining operations right across Western Australia.

Subsequently, he knows mining operators demand their workers and suppliers be highly responsive, especially when there’s a breakdown.

“That’s a big thing in mining because mine sites – being a 24/7 show – they need results,” Joe said.

Time on the tools helps shape customer service approach

Joe launched HDD Solutions in 2018 with a focus on providing maintenance and servicing of heavy diesel equipment to the Western Australian mining industry, as well as supplying spare parts and equipment hire.

It was Joe’s 20 years on the tools in the mining industry that helped him shape his company’s approach to customer service – providing swift and efficient maintenance that’s unmatched in quality and reliability.

These qualities are what he seeks in his own suppliers to ensure he and the team at HDD Solutions can deliver on their commitments to their clients, and minimise their down time.

It’s a major reason why he works with CPG and uses Volvo Penta engines when refurbishing equipment.

“CPG get us the results,” Joe said.

“There’s never a time they don’t answer the phone. If we’re needing something, it doesn’t matter if it’s on the weekend or whenever, they’ll help us out to get it done.”

CPG director Mike Cippitelli said the company understood the time-sensitivities for all its customers, including its dealer network.

“Regardless of whether we’re supplying equipment, spare parts or providing after-sales service for our dealer network, we understand they’re relying on us to deliver, and deliver quickly,” Mike said.

“Not only that, but we need to maintain and develop our technical knowledge so we can continue to support the brands that we endorse and provide the best advice to our dealers.”
