From Power to Superpower – Volvo Penta introduces all-new IPS professional platform

Volvo Penta has unveiled its latest innovation, the Inboard Performance System (IPS) professional platform, set to revolutionize the marine industry by offering unprecedented comfort, performance, and sustainability for vessels ranging from 25 to 55+ meters.

Scheduled for release in 2025, the IPS professional platform builds upon the efficiency of Volvo Penta IPS, providing a powerful and flexible solution for professional vessels and superyachts with speeds from 12-40 knots.

The highlight of this groundbreaking platform is the introduction of the Volvo Penta IPS 40 drive, featuring a dual power input concept for efficient power management and compatibility with various energy sources. The platform is designed for sustainability, allowing for a mix of power sources, including combustion engines with renewable fuels, fully electric, or hybrid solutions.

The compact and versatile IPS professional platform aims to enhance sustainability, offering up to 30% fuel consumption and emissions savings compared to traditional inboard shaft installations. The system also incorporates an efficiency-driven feature that can automatically start and stop individual engines based on power needs, optimizing fuel consumption and engine running hours.
