The Kimberley Quest II, is a 24‑metre boutique expedition cruise vessel delivering remote Kimberley experiences in Northern Western Australia.
With the vessel’s original main engines reaching end of life, Pinnacle Travel Group trusted CPG to deliver a complete repower solution. Following a detailed review and assessment of several manufacturers, the Volvo Penta D13‑450 engines clearly stood out, not only on price, but also for their service intervals, engine longevity, and the strength of service and backup support CPG could provide.
Since repowering, the results have been outstanding. The new engines are significantly smoother and quieter, with the vessel already achieving considerable fuel savings compared to its previous setup.
The installation process was seamless. Everything went exactly to plan, and the vessel was returned to the water on schedule. Sea trials were highly successful, with comprehensive testing conducted across all rev ranges, temperatures, pressures, and speeds. This was followed by endurance testing and full‑throttle power runs, confirming the vessel fully commissioned and ready for the upcoming season.
